Who Buys Acai Bowls the Most?

Mainly attracted the minds and taste buds of the millennial generation, unlike the former generations, for example, the Baby Boomers.

A recent survey in Syosset, NY, was conducted and discovered more than 90% of millennials are willing to pay the extra dollar to get a healthier mean like an acai bowl.

If you were born from 1970 to the year 2000 then you're more health-conscious. Millennials look for a healthy lunch over a fast one. Acai bowls can cost three to five times as much as fast food. Still because it is a healthier option this generation is willing to pay more for good nutrition.

Now let's look at the second-largest generation alive in 2020, the baby boomer. The results for baby boomers dramatically contrasted their kid's values towards a good meal as they grew up during the rise of fast food with McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell and White Castle.

Baby boomers, for the most part, seem to care more about the price of their food rather than its nutritional value. As a millennial, you may be scratching your head, wondering why?

When in reality, this decision is hugely understandable for many Baby Boomers, and let me tell you why.

In 2020 we have many generations outsiders what was mentioned in this article so far — for example, Generation X, Centinnenials, Gen Z, and iGen. We didn't start naming these segments of people born within a specified period until the mid to early 1940s.

What made branding generations was with Baby Boomers because of how it broke historical records. The official first named generation has many names from Traditionalists, Silent Generation to the Nuclear Generation. They grew up during the great depression in the 1930s and saw World War 2 come and go.

After all of that came a time of prosperity where they began to raise the baby boomers. With much of Europe destroyed and still repairing itself of WW2, the USA was doing quite well financially.

Growing up in large households during this time, the parents still had the depression of the 1930s on the back of their minds. Money was tight, but the families made do.

These frugal habits naturally rubbed off onto the baby boomer generation. This social scientific theory could explain why they preferred cheap fast food over pricey healthy food.
