Many are excited to get to the next phase while others are curious about what safety protocols will be in place.

What Safety Regulations will Be In Place?

The same protocols that have been put in place for Phases 1 and 2 are expected to continue. This means that it is recommended by the CDC Social Distancing Guidelines to keep 6 feet apart and wear a mask to prevent the transmission of the virus. Keep in mind that these guidelines are recommended, but not mandatory. Some businesses may enforce rules such as mandatory masks for the safety of their employees and customers.

When asked about safety protocols, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says they are necessary to keep people healthy. “I think our residents and our businesses really do take seriously the social distancing and the PPE that we know will allow us to reopen safely. I don’t think any business owner takes reopening lightly and understands the importance of these protocols.”

Nassau health officials recommend that if you are going to get together with 25 other people, you should still cover your face and stay 6 feet apart. Deputy physician-in-chief at Northwell Health Dr. Thomas McGinn says it is critical that at least 40 years old stay out of large crowds. He also recommends Long Islanders continue to participate in outdoor activities instead of indoor activities.

What's After Phase 3?

The fourth phase will allow larger gatherings of people and indoor dining. I addition, gyms, casinos, and movie theaters will be allowed to reopen. The fourth Phase will be anxiously awaited by many as they will finally be able to gather and make up for missed celebrations over past months.
