This delicious annual event was created to develop happiness and a spotlight for Long Island’s restaurants. Long Island Restaurant Week was unveiled in November 2006!
This tradition stretches back over ten years ago and is only growing larger! Due popular demand by patrons and restaurateurs in 2011 they also celebrated Long Island Restaurant Week in the spring month of April.
The reason why it was originally scheduled during the Fall season is because this was a slow time for many local restaurants. In Autumn the summer vibes are evaporated and with the holidays coming up local patrons become fiscal with their finances. Long Island Restaurateur's have also made money by selling Restaurant eGift Cards.
With the birth of Long Island Restaurant Week each fall that experienced repeated a decrease in sales would see a spike in revenue during the week of cuisine!
There were a few similar traditional community events that inspired what we now know as Long Island Restaurant Week. Originally the event was called for five total years Hamptons Restaurant Week and its vanguard New York Restaurant Week.
This campaign is marketed and promoted by Long Island Restaurant and Hospitality Group a sub division at WordHampton Public Relations. With the success of this annual business to customer event WordHampton Public Relations created an entire brand new division at their public relations firm. WordHampton Public Relations is regarded as Long Islands number one public relation firms for hospitality.
The success was obvious and simply could not be ignored. As they say numbers never lie! Midweek during Long Island Restaurant Week many participating restaurants saw a boost in sales sky rocket from 40 to over 100%!
To add to amazing success not just sales were booming but reservations spiked up to over two hundred percent because of this wonderful marketing campaign created for Long Island Restaurants.
This genius event that has produced remarkable advancements to Long Island’s restaurant industry won an award from the critically acclaimed and well respected Big Apple Award for Marketing Consumer Services, Hospitality, Tourism and Travel sector developed by the New York Chapter known as the Public Relations Society of America short for (PRSA). This event was crowned because of the ingenious execution, event planning, analysis of situations, evaluations and overall outstanding results!
Other awards that decorate this special event is the Folio Award, the Platinum MarCom Award, and the SABRE Gold Award. It is safe with a little over a decade under Long Island Restaurant Week’s belt many more awards are to come!
