History and Background of Smithtown:

The Town of Smithtown was founded in 1903 by Richard Smith. His spirit remains alive in the Smithtown center with a bronze bull worth at the time, around $12,000. The statue is a famous landmark and is officially titled ‘The Statue of Whisper the Bull.’ Incorporated villages of the Town of Smithtown include Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch, and Village of Nissequogue. Within these incorporated villages of Suffolk County resides 1117,801 people and live in Commack, Fort Salonga, Hauppauge, Kings Park, Nesconset, Smithtown, and St. James.

Caleb Smith State Park Preserve:

This park lives near the north shore of Long Island and consists mostly of a nature preserve and offers space for recreation. Residents enjoy hiking, fishing, and cross-country skiing. Park visitors can also take advantage of a nature museum with wildlife displays alongside a nature trail.

Sunken Meadow State Park:

Also known as Governor Alfred E. Smith State Park, open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Sunken Meadow expands upon 3 miles of Long Island Sound beaches. It also features a three-quarter-mile-long boardwalk and six beautiful miles of hiking trails. You are also permitted to horseback ride, bike, and enjoy water sports! For a more relaxing day, the park has playgrounds, softball and soccer fields. The Sunken Meadow State Park Golf Course attracts golfers of all skill levels. With 27 holes, a driving range, and putting green, it is impossible to not fall in love with the scenery while enjoying your favorite sport. The parks ground is also available for cross-country running races of the high school and college level. The infamous “Cardiac Hill” is part of the five-kilometer competition course.

Nissequogue River State Park:

Located within the banks and bluffs of Nissequogue River in Kings Park, you can expect to residents to be bird watching, playing soccer, fishing, canoeing, and much more! Visitors can register for guided tours! Boat owners will be excited about the marina with seasonal boat slips. A bird conservation area has been mapped out with the intent to protect overwintering locations for waterfowl and migratory birds.

Blydenburgh Park Historic District:

A national historic district in the heart of Suffolk County, Blydenburgh Park features eight buildings and one structure. The mill complex and Blydenburgh Farmhouse categorize these buildings.
